Highlights
Some thoughts on an incredible piece of advice I received last year... With my breakfast this morning I was reading this book for entrepreneurs. “Shine” by Gino Wickman (sorry I botched your last name in the video, Gino!), assigned reading for a book club I’m part of. It really got me thinking.
I was shocked to realize that I seem to believe that in certain situations, I have to “put on” a persona (read: tense and awkward!).
I was also pleased to reflect and be able to say that when I was recently on stage speaking to education leaders in Ontario, I had a lot of fun and really was myself.
Now I just have to work on relaxing and trusting that my “true self” is actually my best self, and I can just be me wherever I go ⭐️.
What a relief, really! 🤯
And thanks to Chris West of Video Narrative Inc. for that incredible advice, and much more.

I did it! I got myself out for a walk and was rewarded with this beautiful boardwalk scene. I'm in Ontario, Canada this week to give a presentation on Resilient Leadership to 250 school principals and vice principals.
I'm in an area I've never visited, but it would have been easiest to just stay in my hotel room in the late afternoon, curled up with a book.
If I was truly tired and needed rest, that would have been the choice. But no, I was feeling "lazy tired" - that's a different animal 🙈.
And, I hadn't been outside today and wasn't anywhere near the step count that boosts my mood and helps me sleep.
So out I went, driving 25 minutes to a nearby lake town. After my walk, I had a big yummy salad sitting at a table by the water.
So much better than hiding out in my hotel room.
This also jives perfectly with my self-directed #getyourselfback program that I've been doing for the last few months.
The "old" (yet younger) me loved adventure and seeing new, beautiful places. That usually involved international travel - but one doesn't have to cross an ocean to see new places!
What do you need to get out and do, even if it takes a little (or a lot of) effort?
