Dr. Tim Moonen is a Co-Founder of The Business of Cities and an adviser to both cities and companies. He is also the author of the book 'World Cities and Nation States' published in 2016 by Wiley. Additionally, Dr. Moonen serves as a Visiting Lecturer at UCL STEaPP.
Dr. Moonen has a diverse educational background which includes a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in International Studies from the University of Bristol, a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in International Relations and Affairs from the University of Cambridge, a Master of Science (MSc) in Research Methodology and Quantitative Methods from the University of Bristol, a Master's degree in Multimedia Journalism from Universidad Europea, and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Political Science and Government from the University of Bristol.
Throughout his career, Dr. Moonen has held various roles in prestigious organizations. He was formerly the Director and Associate Director of Research at The Business of Cities, a Seminar Tutor in World Politics at the University of Bristol, a Doctoral candidate at the University of Bristol, a Research Associate at Cities and Regions, and a Research Analyst at FreshMinds.

What a whistlestop 4 days learning, launching and sharing in Geelong, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
Heartening to witness the collective validation of Melbourne's big priorities at the annual Melbourne Summit, and to talk with Jonathan Spear and Feyi Akindoyeni around the physics and psychology of a growing city.
I greatly enjoyed the chance to share a platform with Jeremy Gill to explore Sydney's new competitive reality, its global identity, and the difference between lucky cities and intentional cities.
Chris Fair and I had plenty of fun exploring the longer-run dynamics that make Australia's cities stand out and lose ground at the Property Council of Australia's Future Cities Summit, in the capable hands of Rosina Di Maria.
In Brisbane I was alongside our new Global Fellow Patrick McVeigh where we enjoyed important and varied dialogues hosted by Dyan Currie AM, Debbie McNamara, Glenn MacRae, John Aitken on the city-regional economy and precinct needs.
Different urban challenges are magnified right now in each of Australia's Eastern States. Fortunately there are many signs of reform and resolve in search for more broad-based orchestration and originality in steering urban change. We began to explore some with Ed Steane and the excellent Cities and Active Transport team at TfNSW, I was joined by Claudia Garcia who is working with us on what current Australian and global practice can teach us - watch this space.
