Each year for the last dozen, Bayfront Park has played host to tens of thousands of functional fitness fanatics over the long MLK Jr. weekend. Everybody circles it, from the Average Joe, to some of the fittest men and women in the world, as the can’t-miss event of the year, The TYR Wodapalooza Fitness Festival.   As operators of the festival, we constantly revisit the age-old question: “WHY?” What keeps them engaged? What inspires them to come back? Why is it such an honor to be part? This analysis drives our planning and strategy.   On the surface the answer is simple. Some come to compete. Others come to watch their sister or favorite athlete (for some that’s one and the same.) A select few come to network. But most impressive, are the nearly 1,000 that travel to volunteer (see: work their butts off.) While everyone has unique answers, when peeling back the theoretical “layers,” each group almost unanimously points back to one thing. That is, that many come to be part of something larger than themselves.    It gives them a sense of purpose… something to aspire to and for. It fills them up. That’s due in large part to their deep connection and roots to the culture and lifestyle found within both this event and its community… a gathering of like-minded fitness enthusiasts impassioned by it. Many of their lives revolve around it. Heck… they live for it.   Since acquiring the event in 2017, Loud And Live has turned an already notable, international, destination event, and (no pun-intended) pumped it with steroids. Today, it’s become a right-of-passage for athletes: a chance to put their talents on display on arguably their biggest stage. Did you know less than 10% of those aspiring to compete each year get the opportunity? It’s truly special for all, no matter the division or fashion.   This reputation and elevated experience wouldn’t be possible without the trust & leadership of Marco & Nelson, and the tireless effort of the L&L Familia that brings the event to life. They are integral to its success.

We were hit with a ton of challenges, and were forced to pivot early, late, and often. More than ever before. But despite it all, we thrived. Largely because of the team that made it happen, and their positive attitudes throughout.   At the podium ceremony on Sunday, we witnessed beaming smiles of those with hard-earned medals around their necks, national flags draped over their shoulders, screams of elation, and cameras flashing from their friends and families. This reinforced for me, our "why."    While our chief objective is to run a profitable event, we’re also in the business of creating memories. Not only of our own, but in creating moments for our fans, clients, and athletes to unlock core memories. Those that are life-long lasting. Those they’ll cherish forever.    This weekend, I can confidently say we accomplished that.   Now, it’s time to look forward to creating more moments & memories in SoCal together. TYR Sport, Inc.

In the face of the global COVID-19 pandemic Loud And Live joined forces with a group of international event organizers, brands of diverse industry, & fitness community leaders to launch a global fundraising initiative to bring the world together in the face of isolation.

It included brand development, program conceptualization, viral & campaign marketing, content generation, broadcast production, influencer & brand partnership, and fundraising.

We're currently 4 hours into our 24-hour livestream launch, to kick-off the primary piece: a 7-day at-home fitness challenge consisting of 7 workouts... all to unite the world to move. I'm immensely proud of our entirely volunteer-based team that believed & executed the vision, that was only an idea a week and a half ago.

It's incredible what the CrossFit community can do when we unite.

Tune into the broadcast. Register (for free.) Donate to support Action Against Hunger | ACF-USA, Red Cross Global, & CrossFit Foundation. Or do all three.
