Highlights
Earlier this month - I had the privilege to lead the discussion at the Spark Executive Forum on “The Now New Next and Leadership” in Napa CA. I had really great discussions from the leaders in the audience on how different leadership styles (autocratic, collaborative and individualistic) is a mixture of knowing when and how to leverage all three to drive teams to higher levels. We touched on the paradox (oxymoron) of Sustainability and Ai…the challenge and oppty is to do more of both at the same time in the age of Now New and Next.
I came to the realization that it is not so much a marathon but a decathlon. How do we work to integrate multiple skills, styles and every growing challenges at the same time? Each marathon (business challenge) skill/event requires different strategies, tactics, muscle and balance attributes to address the goal of winning in the age of Now New Next.
Thank you Michael Voellinger, Yates Ltd for hosting a great conference and for inviting me to speak. Thank you to all the attendees – I learned a ton and look forward to more events in the near future!
Musings from the EDge...
Today, I had a friend share with me that they felt lost...'I'm less lost than I've ever been. But still lost!'
Made me think a bit on the word lost. It can mean many things to many people.
To me, lost means a lot of things;
Lost in thought as I move from one pillar to post to another. Lost is like wandering - not all who wander are lost. Lost in the myriad of opptys that lie ahead AND not enough time to expand and explore. Lost in knowing the 'right' direction and path.
What I have found is that being lost is not a negative. It is more positive way to open to finding paths that iterate, move and appear out of nowhere.
Lost is ok...just keep going...have the mindset of a wanderer...find new connections, topics, people and places. They will all help you find a path and many times it is not what you expect!
Which makes the outcome of a wanderer who is lost... a blessing.
