Highlights
It is easy to get caught up in the pursuit of our own advancement in life and to fall into conflict with others in the process of "fighting our way to the top. " It is easy to then look at our list of accomplishments and look down at others as if they were inferior to us. Humility is a great quality to have.
I want to thank everyone for the well wishes and kind words in honor of my retirement.
Some people would define retirement as withdrawing from work, no more obligation nor commitment, you do what you want when you want, spend the majority of your time traveling and resting in the recliner. 😃
My next journey “retirement” is more time to focus on serving God. I want to invest my gifts and talents in the work of the Lord. Retirement affords me increased opportunities to do God’s work, and I’m glad about it!
Each of us has to decide how to redeem the time God has given us. “See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise” (Ephesians 5:15). This means taking every opportunity we have to serve the Lord.
God calls us to labor in His vineyard until He calls us home. Our labor may not be at one particular thing, but we have to be actively productive as long as we possibly can, being faithful to our calling to glorify God, serve the common good and further His Kingdom.
At the end of my life, like the Apostle Paul, I want it to be said, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7)
May each of us be able to say the same.
