The IMEU project, under the Results-based financing, involved 12 ESPCs companies in Uganda. These companies are promoting a variety of energy-efficient products, including a range of cooking solutions, solar water pumps, solar home systems, and cooling and heating solutions. So far, about 10,000 units of energy-efficient products have been sold directly to end users, and sales are rapidly increasing.

In this BLOG, I have illustrated the lessons learned from the RBF intervention, which I believe will provide valuable insights for RBF practitioners and for the design of future Results-based financing interventions. SNV

Last week, #EastAfricaCarbonMarketsForum #EACMF2024 was held in Uganda, and the latest developments in the carbon market in the region were discussed. The various deliverables provided insight into the region's opportunities and challenges on carbon's finance mechanism. The event focused on innovative financing mechanisms and highlighted success stories and potential solutions for scaling up climate projects in the region.

My few takeaways from the events are; ✅ Article 6 of the Paris Agreement requires more clarities to formalize carbon financing markets and align them with the implementation of financing policies in developing countries. ✅ More work to be done  on the Fair shared value of carbon credits  among carbon value chain actors, especially end beneficiaries ✅ More awareness is needed on Carbon markets trading systems, and the role of stakeholders includes government, private sectors, and end users ✅ In addition to the renewable /clean energy sector, regenerative agriculture is becoming an attractive sector for carbon financing. However, I still feel a more robust mechanism is needed to develop carbon markets for the agricultural sector.
