His educational background includes studying Nature-based Solutions for Disaster and Climate Resilience at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Partnership for Environment and Disaster Risk Reduction (PEDRR), as well as obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Geospatial Information Science and Remote Sensing from Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (DeKUT).

In terms of professional experience, Elijah has served as an Information Management Officer at the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), where he contributed significantly to various projects. He was also the Co-Founder and Coordinator at Open Street Map Kenya and has held roles such as Mapping and Visualization Delegate for the Nyiragongo volcanic eruption in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) at IFRC, Acting Senior Information Management for the Africa Region at IFRC, GIS Assistant at Geomatics Civil Engineering & Surveyors, and Geographic Information System Specialist at Map Kibera Trust.
