Organizations involve a complex dance of interconnected dancers and details. The choreography, the dancers, the space - all contribute to the final result.

We rarely contemplate these interconnected influences because it's just too complex. Instead, we focus on tweaking the moves, shifting partners, or another detail we can grasp. Yet, the connections are still there, and every change ripples.

Rather than starting with "How" we should change the way we work, which narrows our focus to the first thing we think we could change, I believe we need to start with "What": • What might a successful change mean for the organization? • What should it feel like? What might you see people do? • What can you change in the collaborative ecosystem to make it easy and natural for people to do that? • What change should you try first?

I'm excited to introduce a new way of thinking through these collaboration design questions: the Collaborative Ecosystem Map. This sensemaking tool helps us visualize the "what" and "why" of organizational dynamics, identify potential impacts, and anticipate ripple effects before diving into the "how."

Yesterday, I posted an article about the map. I'd love for you to check it out and share your thoughts: • How might you use this map in your organization? • What resonates with your experience? What doesn't fit? • What improvements would you suggest for future versions? • How does this change your perspective on organizational collaboration?

Your insights and critiques are invaluable. Let's start a conversation about advancing our approach to collaboration design. Link to the full article here: https://lnkd.in/eKHPDXfv
