Advocacy looks different depending on the issue. Sometimes we need to get away from our laptop and into the field like we did this morning to support Tualatin Valley Water District and their work on the amazing Willamette Water Supply Project.

Westside Economic Alliance is always happy to help facilitate events like this. Thanks to our partners CFM Advocates in pulling this off. And kudos to Danielle Nichols Siver for yet another extraordinary event.

Earlier this week I had the opportunity to bring more than 50 community and business leaders on a tour of my beloved St. John’s. With the help of Willy Myers and the partnership of Michael DeVaughn and Brendan Finn, we highlighted the investments and programs that have helped North Portland begin to flourish, but didn’t shy away from the challenges we face.

St John’s has long felt like we have been forgotten: from slow response times for emergencies to a perceived under investment in our business infrastructure. It was good to connect our part of Portland with folks who are willing to listen and engage.

A special thanks to the amazing Randy Miller for his ongoing support throughout the planning process.

Thanks to University of Portland, TriMet, Oregon Department of Transportation, Port of Portland, Portland Tennis & Education, Venture Portland, Prosper Portland for your participation.

And a shout out to Shelli Romero, MPA, OPMCP, John Serra, Tanya Hartnett, Ezra Holbrook, Sarah Iannarone for your help providing programming and logistics support.

It was a big lift for a volunteer effort, but absolutely worth it.
