I'm in a 'why not' phase of my career. The best advice I've gotten recently? Treat every challenge as a learning opportunity. It's not about being right or perfect; it's about learning, growing, and diving deeper into this fulfilling career. Late last year, I told my team to tag me in for speaking events - why not? My goal? To learn. To master storytelling. To get comfortable presenting my ideas to experts in a room. To test our messaging and feel its impact firsthand.
Recently, I had the honor of presenting at the Movable Ink Think Summit in NYC. This session was a win for several reasons:
- I rewrote the story just days before because our plans changed last minute. I wanted to deliver a better story, and I practiced until I nailed it.
- The event fell in the middle of a marathon month of travel and a move to a new state. Keeping up the energy was no easy task.
- I enjoyed it. While I still get pre-event jitters, I'm getting better. I felt more at ease on stage and more confident walking off.
