It’s been 10 years since my first ADA (where I was remotely media monitoring) and its amazing to see how much has changed in that time.

This ADA had a marked focus on interlinked disease areas, including obesity, kidney disease and cardiovascular disease. A range of specialists presented on panels together, with some lively debates and discussions on how to continue to drive this evolution moving forwards.

Outside of the chilly convention center, highlights included the hot and humid 5k run 🥵 and catching up with old colleagues from across the pond. Thank you to Rajiv Arvind for another great congress experience!

Looking forward to seeing what the next 10 years has in store…

A few weeks ago I completed my first Ironman 70.3 (half distance Ironman) 🎉

I’ve been a runner for several years but was always terrified of triathlon – it seemed like so much hassle and admin! But my boyfriend was convinced I would love it and persuaded me to try one. He was right and I am now a bit obsessed!

Why is this relevant to LinkedIn (other than some slight self-trumpeting)? I want to celebrate hybrid working and make the case for one of its many positives.

At Virgo/Golin, we’re in the office 2 days a week (sometimes more), which for me gives enough time for in-person team interaction and collaboration, balanced with focussed WFH time. So this means I’ve been able to spend the hours I would have been commuting on the other days on early morning swims, Zwifts and track training sessions instead 🏊🏼‍♀️🚴🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️.

I’ve now had 2 weeks of ‘rest’ and have been lost without my training plan - my body clock is all over the place and I have been just a little bit tetchy 😂.

I keep thinking of the amazing work Virgo Health, Golin London, ASICS EMEA and Dr Brendon Stubbs have done around the positive effects of exercise on mental health, as well as the gender exercise gap which shows over half of women in the UK are dropping out of sport partially or completely. There are many reasons for this, but a predominate one was cited as ‘not having enough time’. Pharma comms is an exciting and full-on profession, so time can be a bit of a juggle. In-person engagement can never be replaced and time spent together in the office is invaluable, but the need to allow flexibility and to encourage women to do any kind of sport is vital, and in my opinion should be championed.

If anyone is keen to join me at the London triathlon on 28 July (multiple distances available), let me know 😊
