Elke Wynberg is a physician-scientist and clinical research fellow at Amsterdam University Medical Centers (AUMC) and the Public Health Service of Amsterdam (GGD Amsterdam).31 Wynberg is also affiliated with UvA as a Research Associate in Global Health from 2021 to 2024.4

Wynberg's research focuses on infectious diseases.4 During the COVID-19 pandemic, Wynberg had the opportunity to develop skills as a public health doctor and researcher interested in emerging infections.1

Wynberg was involved in the RECoVERED Cohort Study, which aimed to identify the viro-immunological and clinical features of COVID-19.21 This study included a wide spectrum of initial disease severity, collection of a broad and interdisciplinary array of outcomes, frequent symptom questionnaires, and long follow-up time.1 A total of 349 participants were enrolled in the study by June 2021, with 292 completing at least one symptom questionnaire.2
