Ellen Reckhow

Former Durham County Commissioner

Ellen Reckhow has accumulated nearly 40 years of experience as a local government official across three different jurisdictions, with a notable tenure of 32 years on the Durham County Board of Commissioners before her recent retirement.

With a solid educational background, Ellen studied City and Regional Planning at Harvard University Graduate School of Design for her MCP and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Boston University.

Currently, Ellen Reckhow is actively engaged in various community organizations post-retirement, including serving on the boards of the Durham Children's Initiative (DCI) and the Eno River Association. She is also a member of the Orange, Durham Chatham League of Women Voters, the Downtown Durham Rotary Club, and the Duke Campus Club.
