Last week, I had the rare opportunity to have dinner with an esteemed group of university presidents from the Philippines: Ateneo de Manila, Silliman University, University of the Immaculate Conception, Trinity University of Asia, and University of St. La Salle Bacolod. It was a short yet thought-provoking experience, as I learned more about the work that universities/colleges are required to do for their communities, such as health, environment, livelihood programs. And they have to handle everything from fundraising, implementation to impact measurement!

These responsibilities come on top of the already challenging tasks of addressing the growing learning crisis, bridging current job-skill mismatches, and adapting to the rapid technological changes transforming the way we learn, work, and live.

In the backdrop of these realities and complexities in the Philippines, I'm inspired by what school leaders aim to achieve, and empathize with the daily challenges they face. At the end of the day, education is a lifelong journey. As educators, we must hold onto our ideals yet stay grounded, taking each day as it comes and making a difference, one learner at a time. 🌱

Two days ago at the Ayala Young Leaders Congress, I had the opportunity to speak about BagoSphere and my leadership journey to 50 young inspiring leaders selected from 2000 applicants. These individuals are mature beyond their years, driven by a sense of purpose, and eager to build a better future for the Philippines. Engaging with these young leaders, who are thoughtfully navigating their own leadership journeys and life, was truly energizing.

This experience makes me hopeful for the future. However, these 50 young leaders represent only 2.5% of the applicants. How can we help more youths develop better human capabilities? How might our institutions do better?

Thank you Ayala Foundation, Inc.! I am grateful to have shared a panel with the founders of Coffee for Peace and MLMO Architecture and Planning, who are doing amazing work for the community and humanity!
