Emanuel Moss is a dedicated individual focusing on the impact of technology on society, with a keen interest in data science and its influence on knowledge production. With a background in anthropology, he delves into the world of data scientists, particularly in machine learning and artificial intelligence, through ethnographic research. His previous work includes exploring archaeological techniques for historical insight. Emanuel holds a Ph.D. in Anthropology from CUNY Graduate Center, complemented by an MA in Global Studies from Brandeis University, and a bachelor's in Anthropology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He also studied Geographic Information Systems at Penn State University. Emanuel has affiliations with various organizations, including his current role as a researcher at the Data & Society Research Institute. He has also held positions at institutions like Cloudera, Fast Forward Labs, Baruch College, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), showcasing his diverse experience in data science, writing, teaching, and archaeology. His expertise spans anthropology, ethnography, data analysis, GIS, data visualization, and cultural resource management.
