The discussion will be focused on “Fostering a Plant-Rich Culture: Strategies for Creating Widespread Dietary Change”, where you’ll hear from a range from organizations working to shift cultural beliefs around the food we eat to enable a food system that is healthier for people and the planet.
This Food Day / Climate Week NYC event is hosted by Tilt Collective (formerly known as Plantworks (working title)), Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), and Bezos Earth Fund.
If you’re going to be at #climateweekNYC or are in the NYC area on September 24 and are interested in learning more about the connection between food and climate and what we can do about it, we’d love to have you join us! I'm looking forward to being part of a great discussion on "Overcoming Challenges in Plant-Based Meat Marketing" at this year's Plant Based World Expo North America alongside David Meyer, Brian Kateman, and Robbie Lockie🚦, some of my favorite people working to transform our food system into a healthier, more sustainable and humane one. Immediately following this panel, David Meyer will also be hosting a Roundtable Marketing Brainstorm that I'm looking forward to being a part of.
Most plant-based meat companies have focused on product innovation to match or beat conventional meat benchmarks focused on taste, health, price, and convenience. While optimizing product and touting these rational benefits is absolutely necessary, it's not sufficient to create widespread consumer adoption that lasts. We need to better connect with consumers on deeper cultural and emotional levels to help them truly make a shift.
Impossible Foods' latest campaign starts to touch on this opportunity by tapping into cultural cues like traditionally American meat-centric occasions, perceptions of masculinity and meat consumption in America, the importance we place on freedom of choice, among others. As part of this panel, I look forward to discussing this and other opportunities to build stronger consumer connections to this category.
Hope to see you there for the discussion! The event takes place in the Javits Center in NYC on September 11-12, 2024. If you're considering attending but haven't gotten your ticket yet, feel free to use my code SPEAKER20 for 20% off paid passes. If you're planning on being there already, drop me a note and let's try to meet up!
