After an amazing 6.5-year journey at DutchBasecamp, it's time for a change. As of yesterday, I've stepped down as Director and handed it over to new leadership. Mixed feelings. You can call that a euphemism of my inner state right now.
I am extremely proud of what we have achieved as a team, and am excited about the future of DutchBasecamp. What a ride! During this journey, some unforgettable moments stand out:
- The pioneering years at DBC with - now close friends - Isabel & Justin, where we tried, failed, succeeded, laughed, cried (mostly of laughter).
- Growing the organisation with our fantastic team, filled with energy and commitment to support founders to reach new heights.
- Getting the special opportunity and trust to become DBC’s director with relatively little experience. And.. COVID hitting after 1 month in my new role.
- We've accomplished so much together, from developing and executing 21 Globalisers, masterclasses, trade missions to working with tech scale-ups worldwide. 🇳🇱 🇩🇪 🇮🇳 🇺🇸 🇺🇦
One of the greatest privileges has been learning from so many founders and their international expansion stories. This unique experience, combined with leading DutchBasecamp, has been an invaluable learning journey.
I want to say thank you to all the founders, experts, coaches, partners, colleagues, and everyone who contributed to DutchBasecamp's success and my professional growth journey. You've been instrumental in this adventure. No way could I have done this without you: Isabel Brouwer, Justin Rijnberg, Ruben Nieuwenhuis, Hugo Niezen, Tim Scholte, Irene van den Brink, Stephanie Harmsen, Cyril Schouten, Kirra Pickering Arianna Bianchi, Isa Weijers, Ilona van der Rijt and many many more.
Hugo Niezen - my partner in crime -, with great pleasure and confidence: over to you. Kick some ass (I know you will)! 🚀
I am now going to take some time to decide on my next adventure in the tech scale-up scene.
Focus on cashflow positivity while scaling up your tech company? This is something we hear more and more. At its core, this simply comes down to more revenue and/or lower costs.
What we see happening though, is less focus and less structured scaling strategies as a result. If you (or your investors) don’t want your growth to slow down, you need to focus on the right opportunities. We support founders and their teams with doing exactly that: know which market(s) to focus your resources on and how to succeed there. And, at least as important, what opportunities not to chase.
✅ We want you to own your international expansion.
