I’m excited to announce that I’m joining 1Up Ventures as a Venture Partner!

On the journey with Double Loop Games we were lucky to have 1Up as an early investor, and I loved the community-centric model. Founding a company is often lonely and difficult, and I found tremendous value in the perspective, advice, inspiration and support I received from the many wonderful 1Up founders over the years. My new role will pay that forward, as I’ll be focused on continuing to build the community and support the existing portfolio companies. And as a bonus I’ll get to work with Ed Fries and Kelly Wallick on an ongoing basis.

We’re very sad to announce that Double Loop Games is shutting down after four great years. Shelby Moledina and I are so proud of the team, culture, and games we’ve built in that time. Unfortunately, like many other small studios in 2023, we struggled to break through in a very hostile funding and marketing environment, particularly for mobile games. In November we received an offer from Scopely to bring on most of the team to work on a new project within their casual GSN studio, and decided to accept.

Sadly, a few great team members were not included, as Scopely already had those positions filled. If you have open roles you should snap them up quickly, as they are all exceptional: ->Jason Everett , VP of Production ->William Shook, Producer ->Kieran King, QA Lead ->Kim Herbst , Senior Concept Artist

We were also working with several strong freelancers we recommend: Jeffrey Lance, Olivia Hutchison, Ilsa Zhang, and Jacob Rosenberg

Feel free to DM me or Shelby for more information on anyone. Full contact details, resumes, and links to portfolios for everyone available here: https://lnkd.in/guZWeM3H

As for us, Shelby and I both decided we want to take some extended time off before jumping into our next things, starting for me with an extended trip to Australia and New Zealand I’ve long wanted to take. Shelby is writing and directing a short film, while also spending time at home with her husband and kids. We’ll both be back in time for GDC and look forward to catching up with folks there.

Finally, we want to thank all the team members, investors, business partners, friends, and family who worked with us, believed in us, and supported us through this journey. It’s been a wonderful experience because of all of you, and we wouldn’t have missed it for the world.
