Summer is a time for visiting......clients!
ivy Group Inc had the pleasure of partnering with Malahat SkyWalk on a group of key roles including Director of Finance, Director of Marketing and General Manager/Chief Experience Officer.
Finally got a chance to visit the Skywalk with my family and it blew us away! Located on the traditional land of the Malahat Nation, the views are spectacular and no details are spared when it comes to interactive activities that educate and inspire. Favourite part for the kids was probably Dad screaming his way down the massive slide at the end.
A must-see for anybody visiting the island and no - I was not paid to write this review but I do need to send a massive shout-out to General Manager/CXO Nathan Bird and the whole Malahat Team for their hospitality. We'll be back!
Well, I finally did it. I officially turned 50. And wow – when you have a birthday, LinkedIn does not let you down. So many nice messages from far and wide got me thinking about the friends we meet through our careers. Whether they’re co-workers, clients, partners, or vendors, relationships formed through our work lives can be some of the richest in our lives, full stop.
My first job in Vancouver at Blast Radius was a friendship factory. What a time and place to be alive. I still count many of my co-workers there as friends today. They've seen a lot. They know too much. They have the photographic evidence. (Pictures from Halloween 2001 - you know who you are).
And it's not just our coworkers who orbit our work lives. I have clients who have become real, live friends. Vendors who I'd walk over coals with. Partners who aren't only partners in business, but partners in crime.
These are the people who get you. They know what every subtle arc of your eyebrow is saying. They see your TPS report and raise you an extra piece of flare. They know that you're one paper jam away from a mental health day and they will celebrate your wins with ice cream or tequila (or tequila ice-cream).
Reflecting on my career, I realize how fortunate I am to have met such incredible people through my work and I bet you do too. No doubt that these friendships have enriched our lives in countless ways, providing a support system, a network of trusted advisors, and, most importantly, a source of genuine happiness.
As I embark on this new decade, I am filled with gratitude for the friends I’ve made along the way. Here’s to the friendships that make our work lives not only joyful, but something to be celebrated.
They say that relationships are the path to happiness and longevity and with much of our waking lives spent at work, our work relationships are some of the most meaningful that we can have. Cheers to the work friend - may your eyebrows give me strength, your TPS report have the correct cover, and your tequila not hurt too much the next day.
