Emma Flaherty is an experienced Early Action and Humanitarian Response specialist with over 12 years of senior management, policy, coordination, strategy, and advisory experience in the fields of donors, NGOs, and the Red Cross Red Crescent movement.

She has a proven track record of leading programs, strategic initiatives, and diverse teams in challenging environments, including active conflict zones, emergencies, public health crises, protracted crises, natural disasters, recovery, and development settings, across various global locations.

Emma excels in stakeholder engagement, synthesizing complex technical information into understandable language, diagnosing humanitarian gaps, and establishing sustainable solutions. She is skilled in leading, coaching, and mentoring large teams to build capacity and confidence, managing multi-donor grant portfolios, negotiating effectively, and securing stakeholder buy-in for different initiatives and contexts.

Her educational background includes a BA (HONS) in Political Science, Sociology, and English from the National University of Ireland, and an MA in Globalization from Dublin City University.

Emma has held key roles in prestigious organizations such as the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), the Start Network, HelpAge International, Danish Refugee Council, Concern Worldwide, Save the Children International, Merlin, International Medical Corps, GOAL Global, and Irish Red Cross, among others.

With a focus on early action, crisis anticipation, and humanitarian response, Emma Flaherty has demonstrated expertise in effectively managing diverse teams, engaging stakeholders, navigating complex environments, and driving impactful change within the humanitarian sector.
