I don't usually share personal information on Linkedin (says everyone right before they share personal information on Linkedin) but this story feels worthy.

Earlier this year, I told our CEO, who is also my manager, that I was pregnant. His response was exactly what I expected from him because it's why I joined Fable - he could not have been more supportive. He congratulated me and told me that he is here to help if I need anything. He told me to freely adjust my schedule and above all else to prioritize my health.

What I did not know at the time was that he had been thinking of me for a bigger role in the company. After finding out that I was pregnant he could have started to doubt my abilities, an unfortunate byproduct that happens to women & new parents all the time. Furthermore, since I had no idea that I was being considered for this role, he could have very easily changed plans without risk or repercussion.

But he didn't.

A few weeks after I told Chris I was pregnant, he promoted me to his Vice President, Chief of Staff. I continue to head up all things people as I did before, plus an increased scope that includes broader business operations.

Now that right there, is how you be a great leader. That is how you not only support women and mothers in business, but how you advance them.
