Highlights
Very proud to have helped Senators Tammy Baldwin and Marco Rubio pass the bipartisan Just Act in 2017, alongside members of #Congress from both sides of the aisle and Ambassador Stuart Eizenstat, working for the World Jewish Restitution Organization and Claims Conference, and with the support of over a dozen #Jewish groups. Since its passage, the JUST Act has given our #government new tools to help #Holocaust survivors receive #justice from #European nations for their material losses, bringing #American power to their assistance. Congratulations and thank you Special Envoys Tom Yazgerdi, Cherrie Daniels, Susan Sandler and Elan Carr, and to the #American #diplomats around the world who contributed to the report.
The investigation leading up the report has focused the US government on getting tangible measures of justice for Holocaust survivors, with Secretary Pompeo raising the issue publicly and Congress building off of it by sending letters - some signed by over 2/3 of the #Senate - urging action from European countries. My hope is that by signaling that #restitution for Holocaust survivors is a #US foreign policy priority, the report will motivate our European allies to fulfill their unmet promises to Holocaust survivors. Time is running out.
