Eric Hastie

Teaching Assistant Professor at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

Dr. Eric Hastie is a highly skilled professional with a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and a strong background in virology, cancer therapy, mammalian cell culture, and microscopy. He has expertise in areas such as reverse genetics, recombinant DNA, AAV GMP, and animal studies.

During his time at Duke University, Dr. Hastie utilized C. elegans in his research on cell invasion in relation to cancer metastasis and basement membrane biology. He currently serves as an instructor at both the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Durham Technical Community College, teaching courses in cell biology, embryology, anatomy, physiology, genetics, and more.

Apart from his academic pursuits, Dr. Hastie is passionate about science communication and enjoys simplifying complex scientific concepts for the general public. Beyond his professional endeavors, he finds joy in activities such as gardening, bird watching, cooking, sailing, photography, and traveling.
