Erica Barbosa Vargas is the Director of Social Finance and Impact Investing at The J.W. McConnell Family Foundation, overseeing the activation of the Foundation's total portfolio and managing a $32M impact investing portfolio. She focuses on strategies that support the scaling of innovations and disrupt societal systems in areas like sustainable food systems, entrepreneurship, and urban resilience.

Bringing 13 years of professional experience in the private sector and international development, Erica has worked across Latin America, Canada, and the UK. She is the co-founder of Educating the Streets-Building Society, an award-winning program in Bolivia, and serves as a board member and strategy advisor at Bosques Foundation, dedicated to climate change adaptation and sustainable community economies.

Erica Barbosa Vargas has a profound background in Impact Investments, Social Finance, Global Economic and Development Policy, and Social/Systems Innovation. She holds a Master's in Public and Economic Policy from the London School of Economics, with a specialization in systems dynamics and institutions for economic development.

In terms of education, Erica studied at the London School of Economics and Political Science and Concordia University. She has held key positions such as Global Partner at turnlight and is actively involved in various Advisory Councils and Boards focused on social innovation and social finance globally.
