Erin Chan Ding is a seasoned freelance journalist and editor located in the Chicago area with expertise in writing feature stories covering a wide array of topics such as profiles, travel, fitness, tech, and news.

Focused on exploring race, identity, and the intersection of justice and journalism, Erin has been working in the journalism field since transitioning to full-time freelancing in 2009.

With a rich background, Erin spent almost six years as a features staff writer at the esteemed Detroit Free Press before taking on the role of executive director of communications at the Evangelical Covenant Church, overseeing coverage for its bimonthly magazine, the Covenant Companion.

Apart from her professional pursuits, Erin indulges in her passions for travel and running, having completed 25 marathons and four ultramarathons across six continents. She is a dedicated second-degree black belt in tae kwon do, sharing this practice with her children.

Erin's ties to Northwestern University run deep, having graduated with a BSJ in Journalism from the institution. She is also an advocate for all things related to Northwestern University, where she met her husband and where she fenced as part of the Varsity team.
