Confession: I am a leadership junkie.
Since Mr. Thomas's 10th-grade history class (he put me in the first row because I talked too much...) I have been fascinated with the power leaders have over groups of people. And that power can be for good or bad. It's rarely in between. Since then, I've jumped at every opportunity to continue studying leadership in a variety of settings. I've taken classes, listened to TED talks, read all the books, and picked up lessons by studying my own leaders and my peers. And I've worked on myself. I've had the pleasure of having three incredible leadership coaches over the years -- each of whom has helped me become a leader capable of impacting those around me for the better.
This year, I am eternally grateful for the investment and sponsorship from one of the most recent leaders in my life, Rob Bernstein (+Mike Doyle and Amanda Kowal Kenyon) for nominating me to take part in the inaugural THRIVE Program through The Center for Women's Leadership at OPRG. For seven months, I was given the gift of time and space to study leadership with 15 other amazing women at OPRG thanks to the incredible programming by our coach Adrienne Kortas. Together we grew our skills in self-reflection, empathy, having hard conversations, and influencing others.
And none of this would have been possible without sponsorship from Marina Maher and Chris Foster who invested in more than just our learning. They invested in helping us build a network of female leaders we will continue to lean on and learn from.
This is us at graduation. Thanks to the investment these leaders made in each of us, we're ready and able to make an impact on the people we touch throughout our careers -- all for the better.
