Erland Ebbersten, a prominent figure in the maritime industry, hailing from Stockholm, developed a passion for the maritime realm early in life. With a swift progression, he became a navy skipper at 20 and embarked on a thriving career in naval architecture. Graduating with an MSc in Naval Architecture in 1989, he commenced his professional journey with Swedish American Cruises, contributing as a Naval Architect on a significant new building program. Transitioning to GAC, Erland assumed roles of increasing responsibility, including Director of GAC India and Commercial Manager at GAC Marine, where he played a pivotal role in establishing GAC's presence in the Caspian region, a strategic move due to its vast oil and gas reservoirs. Under his leadership, the fleet of offshore vessels grew substantially over the years. Since 2006, Erland has held the position of Group Vice President, overseeing various regions including Europe, Mediterranean & Africa, and later Africa, Russia, and Central Asia, with a base in Cairo. Noteworthy is his strategic decision to shift the regional office to Cape Town in 2013. In September 2016, he assumed leadership of the Group's Marine business from Abu Dhabi.
