Erlene Howard is the Founder and Owner of Collective Resource, Inc., a residential compost pickup service aimed at reducing landfill use and promoting environmental stewardship.

Passionate about composting and sustainability, Erlene started her journey with composting through her interest in raw food preparation and quickly recognized the importance of making composting accessible to everyone.

Utilizing her experience in small business management, Erlene collaborated with Ken Dunn at The Resource Center in Chicago to establish CRI, where she manages various aspects of the business such as operations, equipment, crews, bookkeeping, and marketing.

An avid educator on composting, Erlene enjoys raising awareness about the benefits of composting, including reducing methane and CO2 emissions, and promoting air and water quality.

Erlene's efforts have not gone unnoticed, as she was honored with the Walter Lucansky Environmental Stewardship Award for her commitment to sustainability.

With a background in Women's Studies from City Colleges of Chicago-Harold Washington College, Erlene exemplifies a passion for environmental advocacy and social responsibility.

In addition to her role at CRI, Erlene previously worked as a Customer Service Representative at Schuman, Simon, & Grodecki, Ltd., showcasing her diverse skill set.

Erlene's dedication to promoting composting in various settings, including through social interactions and zero-waste events, has significantly contributed to the growth of CRI and the positive impact it has on waste diversion.
