As any practitioner of AI will tell you, data is everything. In my years of helping clients apply AI techniques to solve problems, if a project failed to meet expectations, it was almost always the data. Either the data was of low quality or there simply wasn’t enough of it. At the other end of the spectrum, clients had too much data - that is, the data is of such a volume that simply storing it for long enough to develop predictive models was prohibitively expensive.

As a scientist at heart, I'm most compelled by the challenge of managing vast amounts of data. When data scientists have affordable and efficient access to extensive datasets, the potential for discoveries becomes limitless, especially in scenarios where data storage and retrieval costs are the primary bottleneck. Countless domains hold insights buried in massive data troves, ranging from pure scientific fields (such as physics, biology, and neurology) to business applications (including electrical grid resilience, cybersecurity, and autonomous vehicles). A solution that could make these datasets available to data scientists in a cost-efficient manner would be a game changer..

That is why I’m so excited to announce that I have accepted a role as Principal Product Manager, AI at Hydrolix. Hydrolix can ingest and aggregate billions of rows and terabytes of data daily. More impressively, Hydrolix can keep all of that data “hot” and available for querying indefinitely. This is thanks to a unique combination of compression, indexing, and other optimizations tailored for efficient ingest, storage and retrieval of time series data. My role is focused primarily on bringing Hydrolix’s efficient storage and query capabilities to the AI ecosystem but I will also be bringing AI-enabled features into the product to enhance usability and performance.

It will soon be possible for data scientists to operate on datasets that were previously too large to explore and model. I’m particularly eager to unlock new insights and capabilities in the climate tech space. If you have a use case in mind, please hit me up - I’d love to partner with you!
