Esther Scholten

Esther Scholten is a professional with extensive experience in the cultural sector, having a strong background in Art History.

After completing her studies in Art History at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in 1995, Esther began her career in the museum field, working as a team member and later as a project leader at Kunsthistorisch bureau D'ARTS.

Since 2006, Esther has been contributing to the Stichting Collectieve Propaganda van het Nederlandse Boek (CPNB). She started as a project coordinator, progressed to become a program leader, and currently holds the position of Head of the Thinking department at CPNB. In her role, she oversees yearly planning and collaborations. Additionally, Esther became the director of the foundation De Best Verzorgde Boeken in November 2015 and assumed the position of adjunct-directeur at CPNB in March 2017.

Passionate about culture, Esther Scholten's unwavering dedication is evident throughout her professional journey.

Her educational background includes studying VWO at Alberdingk Thijm College in Hilversum, Art History at VU Amsterdam, and Law at the University of Amsterdam.

Esther has held various significant roles in different organizations, including Hoofd Externe Betrekkingen at Stichting CPNB, former Adjunct-directeur at Stichting CPNB, former director at stichting De Best Verzorgde Boeken, and former positions on the boards of Stichting Vrienden Museum Meermanno, Stichting 1001 Vrouwen, and De Gijselaar-Hintzenfonds. She also has past experience as Hoofd afdeling Denken at Stichting CPNB, Projectleider at Kunsthistorisch bureau D'ARTS, and assistent-conservator at Fondation Custodia / Collectie Frits Lugt in Paris.
