As someone with minimal coding experience, this doesn’t just amplify my skills; it represents a step change in my capability. To build is exciting! It was by no means straightforward. My experience using this tool closely mirrored the Gartner AI Hype Cycle™.
With ChatGPT’s guidance, I set up a dev environment, created file paths, organised project directories.🚀 GPT wrote hundreds of lines of code to bring my ideas to digital reality. There were moments that felt profound✨. In retrospect, these marked the peak of inflated expectations.
I realised this as I inevitably hit the trough of disillusionment (multiple times) - scaling issues, design flaws, and GPT’s own limitation. It’s finite context window and occasional forgetfulness had to be worked around. In reference to this stage of the hype cycle journey, Chris Howard from Gartner notes, “this is where the work happens”. 🔧 And it did.
By grounding the AI closely to the project context, setting clear objectives with anti-regression guardrails, and ensuring precise alignment of intent, my AI co-worker and I emerged on the other side with a tidy prototype of a court allocation app!
