Reflecting on the past year, I am reminded of how grateful I am for my colleagues from the City of Chicago, my professional network, and the unwavering commitment of civic leaders and community partners to the mission of the Community Development Department and the City of Joliet. It has been a pleasure to meet many of them over the last sixteen months and to hear why they chose to invest, relocate, establish their startups, expand their operations, and support the important work we do to move the city forward. While 2022 was a year of transition, it has also been a year of tremendous growth - growth in our shared trust, our teams, and our vision for the city's future. I also look forward to an exciting 2023 for Joliet and your role within it! Before we begin our work in 2023, I want to thank you for all you do for my staff, peers, and the City of Joliet. I am proud of what we have accomplished together so far, and I hope you reward yourselves with much-needed rest and time with family and friends over the coming weeks too. From my team to yours, I wish you safe and happy holidays. /emt
