Buro Pinkpop. Lijkt mij dat het fenomeen klantenservice hier niet voor bedoeld is, dan kan je beter zeggen: klantenzwartgat: de plek waar je vragen niet beantwoord worden!
I have been missing from LinkedIn for a while, but here is a long post about how "Sometimes it all works out" After finishing my high school I didn't know what I wanted to do in life so I set to find out. I did 2 courses that supposed to give me rough direction on what I wanted to do, as you can expect they didn't. So in November 2003 I, as so many others, decided to have a year abroad in Australia. I traveled around, saw loads of highlights, met wonderful people from all around the world, had a few to many beers and did all kinds of work. From working in the vineyards to doing dishes at a Country Club. But I also had my first job in events. This was in Adelaide where I helped build an Italian festival. I didn't know what to expect and the work was rough, the temperature was hitting the high 40's and we were working in the sun. Looking back on this I didn't really mind the weather, we got a few more drinks and ice creams and had more breaks. The thing that I still remember is the team spirit. We were all suffering, but we were doing it together. Whether you were a longtime employee of the company or a backpacker, like me, we were a team. This is where I think the basis was laid for my affinity with events. After my work there it was time to treat myself. So I flew over to Melbourne and went to the F1 (a long held dream of mine). Seeing all the activities and experiencing the side events, I got thinking: "How cool would it be to work at the F1?" I didn't act on it and went on with my tour of Australia, but somehow it was always in the back of my head. Years went by, I started and finished a master in events and when I was asked a couple of years ago what my dream job would be, I didn't hesitate and answered: something at the F1. By this time I started working at my current position as a fulltime event manager and had a lot to catch up on, so again I didn't act on it. I just thought: let’s get some experience first and we'll see from there. As the title says: sometimes it all works out. As all Dutchies know and probably most of the world, Max Verstappen is the most successful Dutch F1 driver and there is F1 hype in Holland. This paved the way for the F1 to come to Zandvoort this weekend. Of course I have a ticket for the race and I thought that was that, it turns out it might not be: A year and half ago the first signals started to arise in the company that we might be doing something at the F1. My colleague and I had a few meetings and now 17 years after the seed was planted: I will be working at the F1! In all fairness isn't (yet) the job I imagined when I was in Melbourne, but one never knows wich doors will open while others stay closed. I am surprised and proud that the choices I made from 2004 till now led up to this point and without putting an extraordinary effort in to achieve this dream.So sometimes it all works out.
