Federico Balbi

Federico Balbi is a three-time alumnus of the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA).1 He earned a bachelor's degree in computer science in 2000, a master's degree in computer science in 2003, and a master's degree in Management of Technology in 2007.1 Currently, Balbi works as a software engineer at UTSA.24

Balbi was born and raised in Venice, Italy, and came to the U.S. in 1996.1 Before attending UTSA, he worked as a systems administrator at the University of Padua in Italy.1 While an undergraduate at UTSA, Balbi worked in the library and participated in an internship through the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) program, where he coded for the National Library of Medicine.1

Balbi, along with two friends from Venice, created Conversation Exchange, a free website designed for people to learn foreign languages.1 The site matches people who want to practice and learn languages and new cultures.1 As of 2017, Conversation Exchange had users from 180 countries, speaking 140 languages.1 According to his LinkedIn profile, Balbi is interested in scientific and business software development, particularly C#/.NET/SQL, parallel, and cloud computing.3
