Felipe Valencia is an Assistant Professor at the Vancouver School of Economics, focusing on development economics, economic history, and economic growth, with a specific interest in long-term economic persistence in Latin America.

He pursued his education at prestigious institutions, including Universitat Pompeu Fabra for his Ph.D. in Economics, The London School of Economics and Political Science for his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Economics, Yale University for his M.A. in Economics, and Brown University for his B.A. in Mathematical Economics and International Relations.

Before joining the Vancouver School of Economics, Felipe Valencia held positions at notable organizations such as the Centre for Economic Policy Research as a Research Affiliate, The University of British Columbia as an Assistant Professor Of Economics, The World Bank as an Extended Term Consultant, and Goldman Sachs as a Summer Intern.
