Finlay Pretsell is a accomplished filmmaker with a strong background in cycling and documentary production. He started his career as a professional cyclist, riding for national teams and representing Scotland. In 2005, Finlay transitioned to the film industry, collaborating with Adrian McDowall on various acclaimed shorts.

During his collaboration with Adrian McDowall, Finlay produced several widely screened shorts like the Grierson Best Newcomer shortlisted Standing Start (2007), BAFTA Scotland winning Ma Bar (2008), and the award-winning 30' Cutting Loose (2012) about the Scottish Prison hairdressing competition. His films have garnered international recognition and critical acclaim.

In addition to his successful short films, Finlay has worked on notable projects like TIME TRIAL (2017) and the Norfolk feature film (2015). These projects have premiered at prestigious film festivals such as the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam and the International Film Festival Rotterdam, showcasing Finlay's versatility and creativity as a filmmaker.
