Highlights
Sharing some of the incredible work that my colleague Merline Saintil and the Black Women on Boards (BWOB) organization are doing.
I'm saddened and at a loss for words. The tragic events of the past several weeks were racially motivated. Not acknowledging this is incredibly dismissive and hurtful to a community that has already been reeling from violence. In NYC alone, there was a 1900% increase in violence against the AAPI community over the past 12 months. According to Stop AAPI Hate, 3800 anti-AAPI hate crimes have been reported since the pandemic started. As a first generation Asian American, staying quiet on this issue is not a choice. Conversations with Khai, my 11 year old have shifted dramatically to what does it mean to be Asian American and how can we show up differently for our community.
A few ways you can support the AAPI community:
-Continue to educate ourselves on the challenges that face the AAPI community. -Reach out to your Asian brothers and sisters and check-in on them, it will make a difference. -Take action. See something, say something. The community needs your support. -Be a friend & ally for the long road ahead, not just for today.
