And… it’s… DONE! 😮‍💨 After 15 legitimately gruelling months, I have now graduated from the Global Exec MBA at INSEAD! 👩🏻‍🎓

When I started the journey in Nov 2022, a major catalyst for enrolling in the course was the anticipation that at some point in the near future I would commit myself to working on managing our family portfolio. As someone who had spent the majority of my professional career focused on Europe & the US, my first goal was to expand my network globally, particularly back in Asia. With the broad range of topics I would need to tackle within my family portfolio, my second goal was to expand my toolkit of hard business skills. And I knew that as the stakes got higher, my third goal was to continue to develop myself as a leader. Now, at the end of my INSEAD journey, I can confidently give all 3 objectives a emphatic ✅ ✅ ✅.

My professional toolkit has never felt fuller & more relevant (special shout out to Professor’s Dessaint, Piezunka, Galunic, Singh, Naumovska, Grandia)

My network of friends with amazing stories & superpowers from the furthest corners of the world gets me excited to travel to more places: 🇳🇬 Tony; 🇷🇺Veronica; 🇵🇭Itamar, Dominic; 🇰🇷Soo, Serena, Gina; 🇮🇳 Ashwin; 🇸🇦 Mohammed; 🇪🇬 Mohamed; 🇮🇸 Gunnar and many more!

However, it’s on the leadership development objective that I wanted to share more of my experience. I had the expectation going in that the incredible coaches (Victoria & Martin) and the world-class Leadership Development Program (shout out to my LDP Super Squad: Brian, Matteo, Kristof, Swapnil) were going to aid my leadership aspirations, but I truly wasn’t prepared for how the moments of deep introspection and honest conversations throughout the programme would make me understand and confront myself more as a person... Dissecting topics like working for the feelings of pride & joy vs. obligation; shifting from “must do’s” to “want to’s”. How striving for more ambitious & meaningful goals can lead to greater feelings of imposter syndrome. Delving into my mindset on grit vs. perfectionism to try and be more intentional about how I invest my energy in a more balanced and holistic way. I can’t say that I yet have all the answers, but being consciously aware of what drives me, and choosing to make a deliberate decision to have both of my hands firmly on the steering wheel, fills me with immense optimism for my journey ahead.

My head, my heart, and my gut have never been more aligned and it feels… right.

Thank you INSEAD & my incredible classmates for a deeply transformative experience 🙏 . And lastly, major shout-outs to my A-TEAM for making my EMBA an extra brain-swelling 🧠 , hi-fiving ✋🏽, belly-laughing 🤣 experience: Basile, Elisa, Alex, Michael, Olaedo, Tong, Priyanka, Claus, Hugo, Apeksha, Aurimas, Sudeep, Francisco, Benoit, Charles, Siddharth, Moises, Yami! #inseadgemba2024

Since starting my Global Executive MBA at INSEAD I’ve had numerous people ask me about how I’m finding the experience (a quarter of the way through), and why I decided to embark upon this journey at this stage in my career.

Well, I was fortunate enough to be interviewed by the team at INSEAD recently to answer just that, so sharing the piece for anyone that’s considering executive education as part of their professional development.
