Frances Byrne

Dr Frances Byrne is a Senior Lecturer and Cancer Institute NSW Career Development Fellow at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Sydney.12 She holds a PhD from the Children's Cancer Institute at UNSW and a Bachelor of Biotechnology (Hons) from Flinders University, South Australia.1

Research and Expertise

Dr Byrne leads an independent lab focused on developing novel treatment strategies for cancer.2 Her research interests include:

  3. Obesity-related liver and endometrial cancers

She collaborates with other researchers to investigate the therapeutic potential of mitochondrial uncouplers in liver cancer and develop novel small molecules that alter glucose metabolism in cancer cells.12
