Job Seeker Tip 🔍 📆
If you use a scheduling tool like Calendly to coordinate interview calls more easily, you'll want to know about this new Google Calendar update... 👀
Google Calendar added a new policy recently for users to help combat spam. 🤖
This new policy impacts all scheduling tools, including Calendly. 📆
Events set up for calendar invitations will be added ONLY if you have had previous interactions with your invitee. Otherwise, you must now confirm bookings by clicking a confirmation link in your email. 📨
🤔 So, what does this all mean? This means calendar invites from people you haven't interacted with a lot previously (like recruiters) will not show up automatically unless you update this setting! You may miss out on important events or double booking because you must manually confirm each invite. (Ծ‸ Ծ) Yikes!
📝 To avoid running into any issues because of this update, go to your Google Calendar settings under "Event Settings" and then in the "Add invitations to my calendar" dropdown, choose the "From everyone" option.
This will allow you to have calendar invites sent from scheduling platforms automatically show up as intended in Google Calendar! 🎉

🎶 At first, I was afraid, I was petrified 🎶
Like so many of my friends and fellow engineers in tech, I am no longer employed and am searching for my next opportunity.
The last time this happened, I was pretty aggressive in my job search and was able to land back on my feet quickly.
The tech market feels brutal right now, so this time, I've decided to try a passive approach and focus on my self-growth while I continue searching more intentionally and carefully than before.
What I’m looking for 🔍
→ senior frontend engineering role focused on the product or internal design system 💻 → alignment with my values of wanting gender and racial diversity, transparency in communication, and caring about the end user 👩🏽💻 → solving a problem I can relate to and feel passionate about 💖 → modern stack using technologies like React, Next.js, Storybook, and TypeScript 🛠️ → somewhere I can grow organically into a technical leadership position and can mentor others on my team ✨ → able to work from home 🏠
How you can help 🙏🏽
→ endorse my skills on LinkedIn 🔖 → write me a recommendation on LinkedIn 📝 → DM me with opportunities that might be a good fit 📬 → comment with platform recommendations and advice (e.g., Huntr, Simplify, Teal) 🧰
What I'll be spending my time on ⏰
→ working on the new version of my website in Webflow (shout out to Maria & Christina) 🌐 → earning a certificate in web accessibility through IAAP - International Association of Accessibility Professionals ♿ → spending more time with my partner and spoiling our two Corgis, Luna & Sueño 🐾 → working on Latina Dev with Gabriella and Fernanda 💞 → teaching software engineering to Amazon fulfillment employees through Fullstack Academy 🎓 → mentoring ambitious software engineers through Formation 🦉
In the words of one of my favorite singers, Gloria Gaynor,
🎵 I will survive! 🎵
And I very much appreciate any support as I start this new journey... 💛
