So delighted to announce we've just published our first major report at the AKO Storytelling Institute at UAL which I'm in the process of setting up.

https://lnkd.in/eEZqdupm

To remind those of you who may not be following closely, the Institute is looking at the relationship between social change and storytelling. This report looks at the ecosystem of work being done in this space, the evidence that storytelling does indeed lead to change, and sets out recommendations for the work needed to be done.

Main findings

  • Strengthening the UK impact storytelling ecosystem through integrated funding, leadership from marginalised communities, and investment in large-scale action over research, guided by principles of co-creation, anti-oppression, and decoloniality;
  • Greater collaboration and integration across arts, media, tech, and social movements, supported by academic and interdisciplinary efforts, to significantly enhance the impact and credibility of the impact storytelling ecosystem;
  • Further training and accredited courses across the impact storytelling ecosystem, including specialised training for roles like 'impact producers,' grassroots training, leadership coaching, and university-led programmes to formalise and standardise the field;     This report has been designed to be a ‘go-to’ report for storytellers, artivists, students, scholars and impact practitioners interested in impact storytelling (often referred to as "storytelling for social change"). It is easy to read, and acts as a real call to action to the whole Impact Ecosystem to work together for a greater collective impact.

Many thanks to sandra gaudenzi Rob Eagle Hannah Sewell Dr. Anastasia Mirzoyants for all their hard work on this.
