Independent International Affairs Professional

Frank Dux is a Canadian-American martial artist, fight choreographer, and author, best known for his controversial claims of winning a secretive martial arts tournament called the Kumite in 1975, which inspired the 1988 film Bloodsport starring Jean-Claude Van Damme. Born on April 6, 1956, in Toronto, Canada, he moved to Los Angeles at age seven and later founded his own martial arts style, Dux Ryu Ninjutsu, based on alleged training under a ninjutsu master named Senzo Tanaka.123

Dux served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve from 1975 to 1981 but has faced accusations of falsifying his military and CIA service records. Despite these controversies, he worked as a fight choreographer for films like Bloodsport (1988), Lionheart (1990), and Only the Strong (1993). He also authored The Secret Man (1996), detailing alleged covert CIA missions.124

While Dux's claims about the Kumite and his military exploits have been widely disputed, he remains a polarizing figure in martial arts history. His life continues to inspire debate over the line between fact and fiction.15
