Frederick Isaac van Mierlo, born in 1989 or 1990, is a British Liberal Democrat politician who currently serves as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Henley and Thame since 2024.1 He has been a member of Oxfordshire County Council for the division of Chalgrove and Watlington since 2021.12 Van Mierlo is also a member of South Oxfordshire District Council for the Watlington ward since 2023.13

Before entering politics, van Mierlo worked as a consultant to companies, NGOs, foundations, and patient groups.1 He has a BSc in geographical sciences from the University of Bristol and an MA in European Union studies from Leiden University.1

In the 2024 general election, van Mierlo won the Henley and Thame seat with 45.0% of the vote, securing a majority of 6,267 over the Conservative candidate.1 This victory was significant as the predecessor constituency had been held by the Conservatives for 114 years.1

Van Mierlo lives in Henley-on-Thames with his wife and daughter.1 He is a distant relative of Hans van Mierlo, a co-founder of the Dutch liberal party Democrats 66.1
