Friederike Schüür is an independent data scientist and applied machine learning research engineer with a passion for leveraging data. She is currently involved in creating algorithms for augmented reality in households with a team of ethnographers and leading data initiatives at a dental insurance startup. Friederike will serve as an Assembly Fellow at the MIT Media Lab and Harvard Berkman Klein Center in Spring 2019.

Previously, Friederike was part of the original Fast Forward Labs (FFL) team, which was acquired by Cloudera. At FFL, she delved into emerging machine learning technologies to drive innovation in various industries. She spearheaded FFL's data strategy consulting practice, assisting companies in identifying and seizing novel opportunities. Her consultancy work covered clients such as an international scientific publisher, a major hedge fund, and USA for UNHCR (UN Refugees).

Friederike's educational background includes studies in Philosophy, Cognitive Science, and Cognitive Neuroscience at Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen, University College London, and Leibniz Kolleg, culminating in Bachelor's, Master's, and Ph.D. degrees with honors.

She has been affiliated with several esteemed organizations, such as being a Fellow in AI Ethics and Digital Governance at the United Nations and the Jain Family Institute. Additionally, she has held roles like Director of Data Science at Cityblock Health, Research Engineer at Cloudera, Program Director for Data Science at Insight Data Science, and Data Scientist at Oscar Insurance.

During her career, Friederike also contributed to various causes and communities, engaging as a Volunteer at DataKind, Chair at Woongemeenschap Nijmegen, and Member of the opera choir at Stadttheater Lüneburg.
