🤖 With o1 dropping https://lnkd.in/g55uJ6af, I expect to see a renewed interest in #AI. Many non-technical users have gotten over the initial excitement and entered the valley of "I'm sick of GPT-produced content." LLMs are much, much more than content writers.

This iteration will not lead to huge disruptive shifts in employment immediately, but we are getting closer to that release date. The reasoning seen in this release and future increases in context size will see #agents finally take the stage and start displacing humans in some areas.

🔮 Predictions for 2025 🔮

  • Technical users and startups will be creating agents for everything, they won't all be great initially, but this is how progress works
  • Data governance, organisation and integrity will be front of mind for forward-thinking businesses – if your data (think company documents, meetings, CRM etc.) is a mess or contradicts itself, any agent interfacing with or fine-tuning and training on that data will not be as useful
  • Governments will be woefully behind and struggle to handle the social and economic implications. A powerful minority of people and businesses (though the barrier to entry to this "elite" is now pretty low) will start interfacing with the world and economy using trained, niche intelligence(s) that do their bidding 24/7 better than they ever could.

Today marks roughly 4 years since my life has changed in ways I couldn't have imagined before the pandemic. I have less than half the oxygen I should have to returning to my heart with every beat. I can no longer perform vigorous exercise. Every day I feel hungover. I'm anaemic. I have weird food allergies. Alcohol hits me like poison. I have hormone imbalances, plus a smorgasbord of other symptoms and abnormal test results that I won't bore you with.

But I'm one of the lucky ones. Thankfully, I can still work and have had the continuous support of my wife Mindy,Hongmin Luo business partner Laurent Ross, and excellent ongoing medical care from Dr Tim Trodd at OT&P Healthcare. I've had access to the latest diagnostics, treatments, and support, which many have been denied through the NHS in the UK and other healthcare providers globally.

Estimates vary, but around 1-2% of people will have life-changing ongoing symptoms. Anything from what I have (where I can work at the sacrifice of everything else) all the way to being bedridden and having to disappear from work and life. Middle-aged people, those in the prime earning years of their lives, are particularly vulnerable.

If you, your family, colleagues, or employees can no longer exercise or are inexplicably sick and fatigued within a few weeks or months of an infection, it could be long Covid and worth checking out. While there is no cure yet, there are treatments that can improve symptoms and quality of life.

Feel free to DM me or pass on my details to anyone you know who's struggling and needs a sympathetic ear or wants to be put in touch with support groups in their area.

For fellow employers, if you have employees with long Covid and are struggling with how to support them effectively, please feel free to reach out. I can hopefully offer some insights from both sides of the fence.
