Gavin Wood is a Free-Trust Technologist known for his focus on building the Polkadot Protocol.

He is the founder of Parity Technologies and the inventor of Polkadot. Gavin is also recognized as a co-founder of Ethereum and a former CTO of the Ethereum Foundation.

During his tenure as CTO, Gavin coded the first functional implementation of Ethereum, known as 'POC-1', and authored the 'Yellow Paper', the initial formal specification for a blockchain protocol.

As a tech innovator, Gavin Wood is credited with inventing the Solidity language.

Gavin's educational background includes a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Music Visualization for Human Computer Interfacing as well as a Master of Engineering (MEng) in Computer Systems/Software Engineering, both from the University of York. He also attended Lancaster Royal Grammar School.

Throughout his career, Gavin Wood has held key roles in various organizations. He was the Chief Architect at Parity Technologies, Co-Founder of Grid Singularity, and CTO at Ethereum Foundation. He also served as Director of Technology at OxLegal, Technical Director at Lancaster Logic Response, Research and Software Consultant at Microsoft Research Cambridge, Engine Sublead Programmer (Audio) at Frontier Developments, and Programmer at InTechnology Plc.
