Highlights
I’m excited to share that I’m starting a new position as Chief Financial Officer at Equips!
I'm extremely thankful to have been able to support all of the great work Project N95 has accomplished since the onset of the pandemic and continue to support and root for the team fighting for those that need help most in preventing and managing the impact of COVID-19 and poor indoor air quality.
I very much look forward to my new journey with Equips. I feel very fortunate to be joining a great group of people working hard to help everyone accomplish their best work.
I became a team member at Project N95 in the earliest stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. I was compelled to serve for a number of reasons, but two continue to be fresh in my mind to this day: My neighbor two doors down was the first person in my community to die of COVID-19 and an anesthesiologist friend who works for a wealthy, regional healthcare system asked anyone who would listen for help in obtaining PPE that would allow her to deliver healthcare safely. I was afraid for both my personal safety and for those who would treat me if I did fall severely ill, with COVID, or something else.
In the early days of the pandemic, Project N95 provided a destination for frontline healthcare workers to obtain vetted PPE in very low quantities (down to a single box). We helped thousands of healthcare workers obtain PPE in partnership with the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association, and many other healthcare organizations.
Thankfully, for many of us today, the risks of contracting COVID-19 for the first time, or again, are manageable. Because of access to vaccinations, medical expertise in treating serious cases gained over the past three years, and effective oral anti-viral treatments that can be taken after infection, many of us have been able to move on and live our lives much as we did prior to the pandemic. The ending of the federal emergency and the public health emergency on May 11 reflects this general reduction in risk.
Unfortunately, there are many millions of people that are unable to resume a “normal” life. Whether they have an underlying medical condition, are caring for someone with a higher risk profile, or cannot afford to take the time away from work if they become sick – Project N95 remains available as a place to turn to for personal protection.
Why am I sharing? What is my ask? How can you help? With the end of the public health emergency, Project N95 is being asked to assist in the distribution of 10’s of millions of vetted N95 and other high-quality (KN95/KF94) masks to those that can’t afford them. We need financial help to do this. In addition to partnering with local partners where we donate thousands of masks at a time, we are also assisting individuals who contact us for need-based donations. Project N95 is looking to raise $500,000 (about 4 cents/mask) to help us distribute the first 12 million masks and make sure these don’t end up in a landfill before landing in someone’s hands who needs them. Please consider clicking the link below and joining me in making a one-time or recurring donation to help us serve the most vulnerable that remain impacted by COVID.
