Geoff Smith

Geoff Smith is a distinguished composer, performer, educator, and academic leader with a rich background in music and higher education.

He holds a BA (Hons) in Music from the University of Nottingham, an MPhil in Electronic Music from The Queen's College, University of Oxford, a PhD in Composition from the University of Huddersfield, and an MBA in Higher Education Management from the University of London.

Geoff's musical journey started with an album on Kitchenware Records followed by recording contracts with Sony Classical in the US and a publishing deal with EMI Worldwide Ltd. He has performed extensively across continents and composed music for various media including television and film.

In academia, Geoff taught at the universities of Manchester and Huddersfield before establishing and leading the School of Music and Performing Arts at Bath Spa University, earning recognition as a national Centre of Excellence in Teaching and Learning. He was appointed a professor for his exceptional academic leadership.

Transitioning to senior leadership roles, Geoff served as the Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Falmouth University before assuming the prestigious position of Vice-Chancellor & CEO at Regent's University London in August 2019.

Additionally, Geoff is a Trustee of Trinity College London, showcasing his commitment to educational and cultural development.

Geoff's multifaceted career encompasses composition, performance, academia, and institutional leadership, making him a versatile and influential figure in the field of music education and administration.
