There's a new book club starting for Observability Engineering!
Last year, Honeycomb ran a series that was one part webinar + one part lively Q&A. We took a lot of questions in real-time, and we often got in-depth answers with back & forth responses. My favorite part of this whole book thing has been the genuine questions we get and helping folks unpack challenges with iterative and pragmatic approaches from different perspectives. I loved seeing the returning participants as our series went! If you missed it, there are recordings. But you'd be missing that interactive part.
That's where this new book club comes in.
It's set up as a community-oriented approach to building shared understandings. No slides. No presentations. Just facilitated discussion and some excerpts. We build sociotechnical systems and a lot of folks tend to forget that "socio" part. Hearing from other people, understanding their challenges, and discussing approaches will usually help shed new light on your own unique situations. Whether you're new to this observability thing or you've been at it for a while, having discussion venues like this with peers is something most of us could use more of.
PLUS, it's spearheaded by the ever-delightful trio of Jenni Boyer, Jessica Kerr, and Rynn Mancuso. And you never know who else might stop by. 😉
