Gerald Chertavian is a dedicated individual committed to closing the Opportunity Divide in the nation by founding Year Up in 2000. His work focuses on empowering urban young adults through education and skills development.

With over 25 years of experience in working with urban youth, Gerald has been actively involved in mentoring programs and has received awards for his social entrepreneurship efforts.

Before founding Year Up, Gerald started his career on Wall Street and co-founded Conduit Communications, where he played a key role in its significant growth and eventual acquisition.

Gerald holds a B.A. in Economics from Bowdoin College and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. He has been recognized with honorary doctorates and serves on various boards and councils, including the Harvard Business School Social Enterprise Initiative and the World Economic Forum's Youth Unemployment Council.

As an author, Gerald's book 'A Year Up' became a New York Times bestseller. His accomplishments and contributions have made a significant impact on the education and social entrepreneurship landscape.
